Educating the Public About Responsible Interaction with Nature

As a 1% for the Planet member, we choose a charity to align and partner with for our 1% donation. In 2019 we chose the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics.

Leave No Trace provides research, education and initiatives so every person who ventures outside can protect and enjoy our world responsibly.

The “Leave No Trace Seven Principles:

  1. Plan Ahead and Prepare
  2. Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces
  3. Dispose of Waste Properly
  4. Leave What You Find
  5. Minimize Campfire Impacts
  6. Respect Wildlife
  7. Be Considerate of Other Visitors

We’re proud we were able to contribute to Leave No Trace having a very successful 25th year in 2019:

This year — our 25th year of leading the Leave No Trace movement — the Center continued the fight to eliminate 100 million pounds of trash from 3 National Parks through the Zero Landfill Initiative. Our traveling educators and state advocates conducted over 670 Leave No Trace events from coast to coast reaching adults and children of all ages and backgrounds, and more than 2,600 people completed advanced Leave No Trace trainings preparing them to be the best possible teachers of outdoor ethics.

To continue to support the excellent work of this organization, we are volunteering our time and expertise to help redesign their public-facing online awareness course. It will now be mobile-first with improved accessibility. We look forward to sharing it with you all when it launches.

Get outside, enjoy the natural world, and learn how to appreciate and protect it. Learn more and find event times and locations at http://lnt.org.
